The study of the behaviour and properties of ceramic materials during the heating process is one of the most critical steps in the development of innovative products in the fields of advanced and traditional ceramic materials. With the optical non-contact dilatometer, the range of research can be extended to temperatures higher than the dilatometric softening point because the measuring system does not alter the sample’s behaviour while performing the measurement. This makes it possible to faithfully reproduce the industrial thermal cycle and to monitor the sample’s behaviour even during the sintering or expansion phases through a precise measurement of the size variation of the material under investigation.
